This is the most personal post on the blog to date. The typical writings here are thoughts and feelings about clients, interests, or any other random thought that may be running through my mind. The difference being that there is a little Woodall in the making! Stephanie and I are ecstatic to announce that we will be welcoming a child later this year. So we setup the tripod, put the camera on a timer, and told the world of our life changing news.

Charity Ball: 2011

One of my favorite organizations, Charity : Water had their largest charity event in their history back in December. After all was said and done, 2.7 million dollars was raised in a single evening. The entire night was paid for by their sponsors so each dollar collected whether from ticket sales, the silent auction, or just a pure donation will be spent solely on moving forward to provide for those in need of clean drinking water. This organization is fantastic and if you are moved enough and have the ability to help out, your efforts will certainly not go unnoticed. The short video below highlights the night and it appears it was a lot of fun for a great cause.

The Groove List: Volume 3

Local Natives, these guys are on constant rotation right now. Pretty much the entire album titled Gorilla Manor can be played through while cleaning, wasting time on the internet, or whatever else it is you find yourself doing. They reign from LA and gained a lot of notoriety from their multiple performances at SXSW IN 2009. A personal favorite from the album is "Airplanes" and the video is below. They are currently working on a new album which becomes glaringly obvious when you visit their website so no touring going right now.

Colts Game: Up Close

A good friend of mine was given some tickets to a Colts game a few weeks ago. As pretty much anyone who lives in the Indianapolis area knows it was a rough year to be a Colts fan. With today's loss, they guaranteed the #1 pick in the upcoming draft which is going to make for a very interesting off season. The future of the franchise is certainly in question with some pending decisions regarding who to bring back next season.

Our seats were in the front row. It is interesting sitting that close and you get an idea of how big these guys really are. It was pretty cool to see it up close and this game happened to be 1 of 2 that they actually won this season.

Gotta love the flag because you only see it when the Colts score.

A large number of the players pray before, during, and after the game. Very cool.

Reggie Wayne, one of the staples of the Colts offense and hopefully ends his career here.

Steph's favorite, Robert Mathis, is another one who's contract is up and we really hope they keep him.

I haven't seen Lindsey in quite some time as she has lived in a different time zone for a number of years now. I knew that her family lives out in California and when they said that they are in the southern part of the state I got a little jealous knowing that in a week or so they would be returning to 70 degree weather. John, Lindsey, and little Andrew were great to photograph and although we were hoping for some snow it didn't come until a day or so later.

Celebrating Christmas

My aunt is a teacher at one of the IPS schools where a majority of the kids don't have a whole lot. So a few years ago she had the idea of the family pitching in so that each kid in her class can have a bag with some gifts for Christmas. This is the first year I have gone to watch the kids unwrap everything and at the moment when they are given the go ahead to open everything, part of the real reason for Christmas comes to light. With all the hustle, bustle, and mayhem that Christmas has become, it was refreshing to see pure joy on a child's face and hear them say things like "best day ever" for receiving something that most would baulk at.

Jessica + Jeremy : Indianapolis Engagement Session

We knew that going into this engagement shoot that there was going to be a lot of laughs. We started out downtown on Mass Ave which was pretty vibrant with the weather being unusually warm. Stopped for some coffee and a little home shopping on the side as well. It was then off to Broad Ripple to wrap up. The four of us essentially just hung out and took some pictures along the way.

Having know Jeremy for so long, we could not be happier that Jessica has come along. They get each other, it works without effort and that is when you know something special has come along. Steph and I are so happy for these two and had a blast shooting their engagement session and can not wait for the wedding.

Sayla + John: Indianapolis Wedding Photography

Words to describe Sayla and John, hmm, sweet, kind, generous... the list really could go on and on. It was so great getting to know these two and being there for them on their very special day. The details were beautiful and hearing the story of the Peacock from the minister during the ceremony really made it all the more meaningful. The wedding was at The Benton House in the Irvington area of Indianapolis which provides a great backdrop for a wedding. These two have a genuine, shared love that is obvious to all around them. Congratulations to them both on their new lives!

The Groove List: Vol. 2

Florence + The Machine may not be new to some of you. I only recently heard the new song "Shake It Out" by this awesome group and had to download it almost immediately. Florence has an incredible voice and uses every bit of it in this song. The video is pretty conceptual but more times than not these are the videos actually worth watching as it is a visual interpretation of what the song writer was thinking during the writing process. Favorite line in the song "It's hard to dance with the devil on your back". Cheers!

Thankfulness

Man, have we been lucky. Stephanie and I both have great families that regardless if we are hosting family gatherings or going to them, it is something we look forward to. Everyone pitches in and often times with more than one food dish, serving plate, or whatever else it may be that will make for a great family time. In life, your family is so much of who you are and to know that their is a support system on both sides of the aisle is rare.

What is also important on this Thanksgiving is to never forget that there are people less fortunate. Untold millions don't know where they are going to sleep or get their next meal. Donating money is important but being able to spend your time helping others, where the person affected sees your face, is where putting others first is in it's most true form. Not for recognition, but to let a stranger know that there are still people who care.

Always be thankful for what you have.

One thing about me is that I absolutely love discovering new musicians/bands. Music really does have the ability to change the mood of anyone listening to it. This is why some people either can't get enough of or simply cannot listen to a particular song due to the feelings that are conjured up. One song that I can't get enough of is Halocene from Bon Iver . The video (below) was shot in Iceland which is a place on my bucket list and it just sucks you in. Pretty much every song put out by these guys is amazing. Put their music on shuffle and just relax.

We first hung out with Sally and Bryan earlier this year while in Cabo San Lucas where it became clear that they are awesome to hang out with. Hectic schedules brought on the need to reschedule a few times so I was pretty excited when we were able to find some time that worked for everyone. I met them at their new house for the photo shoot where Luke definitely likes to walk around. He is one cute kid and knows how to make you smile.

Henry Woods 1 Year Photo Shoot - Danville IN

Ahhh the Woods family. Hanging around them just puts a smile on your face and now with little Henry that smile gets even bigger. We met up for his 1 year shoot at Beasleys Orchard which is a great place in Danville to take photographs. Henry was a big fan of the apples, some of which we had to take away from him. Stephanie and I really enjoyed seeing these guys again and look forward to the next time we get to hang out.

I met JT & Kurt through one of my close friends a number of years ago. It was pretty clear right away that I was going to get along with them. The entire family has an awesome sense of humor which came out during the shoot with quotes from Talladega Nights. We walked around Indianapolis Art Center which provides plenty of unique photo opportunities. I had a blast taking their photographs and always look forward to seeing these guys.

The Dennison's have had a hectic schedule lately with a couple of moves over the past few weekends. We were finally able to reschedule a time that worked for everyone. Jonah is such a happy little boy and he sure was smiling away when I arrived. We went to a park near their house and I must say that playgrounds these day bare no resemblance to when I was growing up. This stuff is space age and there wasn't normal swing in site but the park was pretty cool I must say. I always enjoy seeing and photographing Sara, Kenny, and their precious little Jonah.

Sayla + John I Indianapolis Engagement Session

Sayla and John are two of the warmest people you could ever meet. Stephanie and I are so thrilled to have met these kind-hearted people, and we can't wait to shoot their big day. As the leaves begin to change and all of the autumn's colors are in full bloom, we thought it would be a great time of year to shoot their engagement session. The weather was beautiful, and Sayla and John were naturals. There was a lot of laughter and love, which I'm sure follows these two wherever they go.

Liam Lennox Grogg is here! Steph and I were so happy when we heard that baby Liam was born and couldn't wait to meet him. We first got introduced at the hospital and were excited to take his newborn pictures. We waited for him to fall asleep and there isn't much cuter than a baby who is fast asleep. We can't wait to watch him grow up!

The Rude Family I Indianapolis Portrait Photography

What a difference a year makes. We had a session with the Rude's last year and seeing how much Thomas and Elliot have grown is just awesome. It took them some time to warm up to the camera but once the playground came into the equation their great smiles showed themselves. The weather turned out to be perfect and Holiday Park was packed as there were a number of others doing photo shoots as well.

I can't believe it has been a year since we started taking pictures of Keaton. He is such a little boy now and no longer a little baby, even the teachers think so since they have moved him up a couple of times! Steph and I grabbed our cameras and met up on the canal in downtown Indianapolis for the one year portrait shoot. The weather was great and so was the entire Still family. I am glad we were able to find time to grab some food after the shoot as it was great to catch up and just hang out with this awesome family.

The Abernathy Family - Indianapolis Portrait Photography

With each portrait session we have of these guys, it gets harder and harder to believe how big Jackson is getting. As you will see, judging by his baseball stance we may have a future athlete on our hands. We went to Avon Town Hall park for the photo shoot and it was pleasantly warm for this time of year. Jackson likes our "bad dogs" and was looking for them before we took the photos.

A NEW RIG!

This is a truly different charity. One that uses 100% of donations to fund projects of which you can watch as it is happening. They are accountable which this day in age in any organization is rare. And what they are doing is so important. So many people don't have what those in the civilized world take for granted, clean drinking water. I truly feel passionate about this organization. My birthday is this month and rather than ask for gifts from anyone I have started a fund raising campaign to help them raise the 1.2 million they need for a new drilling rig. I hope that anyone who reads this can help. The video below is very inspiring and I have watched it a number of times. Jillian + Shane - Indianapolis Engagement Shoot

Shane has been a great friend of mine for quite some time now. When I lived in Broad Ripple and there were still a few of us that were single we had a tendency to live life as if we were still in college, at least on the weekends. I started dating a young lady who has become my wife and not too long after that
Shane met the lovely Jillian. I was so happy for the two of them when they announced their engagement. We strolled around Mass. Ave, went to their new house, the up and coming Irvington neighborhood they will be moving into. These two truly compliment each other and I can't wait to shoot their wedding next year!

We have always loved Broad Ripple for its charm, local restaurants, and just the overall feel of it. Before Steph and I met, we both lived there. So when we got to meet up with Nikole and Scott at their house in "The Rip" to take some family portraits, we were pretty excited to hit up Broad Ripple and even more so to take some pictures of baby Cam. He was a good sport considering some of the places we placed him! We know The Fishers since Scott is great friends with my brother and was actually in his wedding. It was great meeting the little guy and we had a blast getting some pictures after a few months of him being introduced to the world.

Looking back, it makes me laugh knowing that "Corn" is going to be a dad. You see, I remember his antics from college and someday I will pass those stories on to he and Andrea's unborn child. Having great friends is priceless and when they have a child, I feel like I gain a family member. Steph and I can't wait to welcome the little boy or girl to this world in a few short months. They have done a fantastic job putting together a great, peaceful nursery for their little one. I look forward to being there as our new friend grows up and being fortunate enough to help them remember his first year and beyond with photographs.

Chris + Leslie I Bloomington Indiana Wedding

For nearly any reason to go to Bloomington is a good one. I absolutely love everything about the town and just walking around Kirkwood takes me back. So when I realized where Leslie was getting her hair done was in the heart of it all I got excited. Not only was I excited about Bloomington I was pumped to be there with Chris and Leslie as they joined their hands and new lives together.

You could tell after the ceremony that the stress and worries that come with planning a wedding all went away. Chris and Leslie, under the eyes of God, were now joined together. Just watching them as they sang their songs in praise you can tell that they could not be more excited to be husband and wife.

I had a blast shooting their wedding and know they have a long happy future together.

Looking back on his first pictures, Henry really has grown up a lot. One thing is for sure, with as much as he smiles is for sure a Woods.

I met them at Allison's parents house which provided some great backdrops in true Indiana fashion with corn, farm equipment, woodsy areas.....There is even an old bus that still has a couch in the back where they used to hang out back the in high school days. Seeing the Woods family is always a joy and I feel blessed to be able to watch their little boy grow up.

Jaime + Josh I Greencastle Indiana Wedding

Ever since Jaime and Josh chose me to shoot their wedding I knew it was going to be a blast. My intuitions were proved correct from shooting their engagement session, each time we met, e-mails and any other type of communication with them.

Their big day arrived last weekend. From the momen Stephanie and I showed up, Jaime had the biggest smile on her face and you could tell she couldn't wait to marry the man of her dreams. The love they have for each other is apparent to all those around them and shooting their wedding was an absolute blast. Jaime was gorgeous and Josh was calm and cool.

Puppies & Fireworks - Indianapolis Photography

At the end of a long good ol' American weekend, what could be better than some pictures of puppies and fireworks. Stephanie's mom recently had a litter of beagle puppies so she went out to take some pictures of them. Since beagle puppies are incredibly cute, only one puppy is left! We also had a last minute decision to watch some fireworks on Monday night. We were able to watch from the backyard of our friends old house which is right across the way from where they were set off from. However, the house next door decided to have their own little show. I now know why most fireworks are illegal. They hit the house directly across from them landed a couple only a few short feet from where we were sitting. We actually took cover inside the house. Even with this, it was a great day and weekend and hopefully people kept in mind the troops who were far far away from home while celebrate our freedom.

Welcome to the Big Show, Jason & Erin Scott!

I had been looking forward to Jason and Erin's big day for months, and the excitement grew after getting a glimpse at historic Fountain Square Theaatre the week of the wedding.

I've known Jason for years, and really got to know Erin during their wedding planning. These two are such a natural pair, and shooting their wedding was a joy. Though Saturday, June 4th was one of the hottest days of the year, Jason and Erin were calm and cool on their big day. If you know Jason and Erin at all, you know their relationship is founded on friendship, no fuss & muss, and lots of FUN! Erin, Janis (her mom), and Julie & Alicia from J.A. Alexandra had the wedding planned to a T, and the guests loved every minute of the party... and that's what it was... a true party.

From the minute guests arrived, they were greeted by Erin & Jason's name up in lights which really set the tone for the evening! With personalized "Coming Attractions" posters, a photo booth, a bridal party of 25, and around 300 people in attendance, the marquee's message held true throughout the night "Welcome to the Big Show!". And of course, the star of the show was Erin. She looked absolutely stunning in her beaded gown and glowing smile. The red accents in her flowers and centerpieces really added a pop to their pictures. The young and young-at-heart crowded the dance floor all night long. These people know how to throw a party.

It was fun to also have my wife with me to shoot this wedding. Congratulations, Jason & Erin! Thank you such much for including us in your special day. It was a blast, and we wish we could do it all over again. Vow renewal, anyone?

Kelsi Morris Senior Pictures

These pictures were especially meaningful and fun to take. Kelsi is one of two first cousins that I have. It has been so much fun watching her grow into the young lady that she has become today. They moved to my side of town a few months ago which has made it so much easier to attend her soccer games, visit, and just become closer with her. I am looking forward to her senior year and seeing what all she accomplishes before heading off to glorious time known as college life. Below are some of my favorites followed by a slideshow.

The accidental shot

Is every good photo in perfect clarity with just the right amount of light on the subject? I don't think so. I was adjusting the camera on my honeymoon while preparing for a shot with my wife. While doing so I snapped this picture. Obviously the lighting is poor and the image is grainy. However, I love the the way she is standing and how her dress pops out of the photo. Sometimes even when the image is not mechanically correct, a worth while picture can come out of it.

Honeymoon Pictures

We returned from our honeymoon late this past monday night. We were lucky enough to visit the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies. This island is beautiful and the people are gracious. I would definitely recommend visiting there if you get the opportunity. We did a few excursions and went to a local street party which they have every Friday night. It was cool to see how they live and to taste some of the local culinary treats such as the cocoa bean straight from its source which actually tastes like a jolly rancher rather than chocolate.

We took a helicopter ride from the airport to near our hotel when we arrived. This was taken while looking down. The helicopter ride was definitely a treat and a cool way to see the island.

While the helicopter was landing, there was this really unique abandoned building. I do wonder though what it was once used for.

This was taken from inside an old prison at the top of hill near our resort. Doesn't look like the prisoners back in the day had too bad of a view.

At the top of the hill where the prison was, there was quite a view and I can see why it was such an important viewpoint for the residents of the island.

Also on top of the hill remains the canons that they used to use to deter attacks. Pretty cool to think that these were used to fight off the enemy and remain where they are.

This was one of many very colorful flowers that draped the entire resort. Not only did they look beautiful but they smelled that was as well.

Just outside of the resort was this uniquely painted picnic table. I must say that if there is one place to have a picnic, this would be it.

The locals walk up and down the beach trying to sell their goods. I'm not sure what this guy was selling but he usually had his son with him who was adorable. He was probably 5 years old and had his hair in dreadlocks and would just run around on the beach without a care.

The Real Heroes

It is hard to know how to react to the news of the death of Osama Bin Laden. I'm not sure that rejoicing is where I am at with the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, the world is a better place without that animal and God only knows that he deserves what he got. But, what comes to mind is the day that he really became infamous and just how many people were affected. I hope that knowing that the mastermind of the attack is no longer roaming free brings somewhat piece of mind to the family members of those who were taken on that day.

Other conversations are about who should take credit, Bush or Obama. Who should get credit? No one person or administration. Rather the thousands of families that have lost loved ones, currently serving, and those that have served in the past. They are our real heroes and should be honored. The thing is, even if you tried to celebrate their bravery, soldiers do not want credit individually which is a trait that if everyone practiced we would all be better off. Imagine walking into enemy fire to save a fellow soldier and thinking what you are doing is just "normal" or what anyone else would have done. This is what Salvatore Giunta did and his humility is something to strive for.

Downtown Indianapolis Photography

My wedding is coming up in 9 days! Because of this, my fiance was having a trial run done of her hair and makeup. The makeup artist came to our house so naturally I could not be there to spoil the surprise. So, what to do what to do? I packed up my gear and headed downtown.

Shortly after I arrived, I was walking by The Conrad Hotel and the Chicago Bulls players were making their way to the bus and stopping to sign some autographs. I used to be a Bulls fan as were most other boys my age because of Jordan but my allegiances have changed to hometown Pacers. Nevertheless it was cool to see them up close and personal. On top of the behemoths that are NBA players, downtown provided some cool backdrops.

This was taken at St. Peters church. I love the architecture and art in old churches.

This was sitting outside of Reds Barber shop, which is awesome by the way. I was shooting the rear of the car and a Reds employee came out and informed me the owner was ok with me taking pictures but did not want any with his license plate posted anywhere. Understandable in today's age.

Erin & Jason - Indianapolis Engagement Session

I was pretty excited when I found out that Jason and Erin chose me as their wedding photographer. I have known Jason for a number of years and I have really enjoyed getting to know Erin. Like so many other stories, the number of opportunities for them to have met in the past are countless. Whether it was at a party at Jason's fraternity or them having lived a block away from each other. Fate took over and introduced them and right away it was clear that they had something special.

We had hecklers during our shoot. There were some angry Chicago Bulls fans that drove by because our Pacers beat them earlier in the day! On the other hand there was a bus full of people yelling "Congratulations" as they drove by. Below are some of my favorites followed by a slideshow. Enjoy!

An addition to the Indianapolis Wedding Photo Scene?

I was off to Chicago for the weekend for a bachelor party which had been scheduled a few months ago. Unfortunately, there was also a birthday party planned during that Saturday for my fiance's two year old niece. I would have liked to be able to make it since after showing her my iPhone, she gets excited when she sees me. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to make it. So, my fiance asked if she could use one of my cameras to take some pictures. I said sure and started to prep one of my older, but nicer, point and shoots. She then proceeded to say "Hey, I thought I would try using one of your good ones to see what I can do". After thinking about it for a minute I started to prepare a few things for her to shoot with. Her artistic eye without a doubt showed itself and below are some of my favorites that she took. The question is, do we have a future husband/wife photography team in the making?

Henry Woods is getting bigger

It has been a few months since I have seen Henry Woods and my my how much of a difference there is. He really has grown. The weather was atypical for this time of year which brought out a lot people. The park we went to is pretty cool and I can imagine as a kid once the water park gets going can be a wonderland of fun in the summer. They also serve ice cream and there was a little kid who's grandpa thought it would be a good idea to get him an ice cream cone. It was hilarious how much of it was on the front of his clothes by the time he was done. The Woods are always fun to be around and as my fiance said "It would be awesome to have you as parents" and I couldn't agree more. One word, awesome! When Keaton smiles it is genuinely awesome. He didn't feel like showing us his smile much during the shoot. Understandably so, he was focused on the ground and playing and feeling his way around everything within reach. When he did give us a smile it made for some great shots. Even when he was looking off or at his parents he is a great subject! It was also great to catch up with Cami and Allen and I feel fortunate to be able to document the first year of the "little" guy. The Killigrews and their newest addition

It was great to meet the newest Killigrew, Kyle. He was introduced to the world on 3/2/11 at 4:10 p.m. and weighed in at 6 lbs 20 oz. It always amazes me to see baby's at this stage in life and how small they are. It is surreal to think that we were all there at some point. Brian and Connie being such huge St. Patricks Day people Kyle had his green outfit on so nobody was about to pinch him and get away with it! My little buddy Jackson is a full on little boy and no longer a baby. He even knows where his belly button is! It has been a true pleasure watching him grow up. The day started off a little rough. Year in review from the eyes of my business:

This was a year of growth, learning, and fulfillment.

Growth was a huge part of 2010 both from the tangible and intangible. The photography industry is forever evolving. Not only is the equipment always being improved but so are clients expectations. I make it a point to stay on top of both. Embracing this change has made me a better all around organization.

I hope that each year brings as much knowledge as the last 12 months have. From listening to seasoned industry veterans to answering questions on my own it has been a great year. There have been a few people that have been instrumental in this and for them I am thankful.

The feeling of fulfillment came from my clients. Each positive comment whether it was through a phone call, text message, or Facebook comment it was always a satisfying feeling knowing that they appreciated my work and level of service that I provided.

I want to thank everyone who has given me the opportunity to document your family, wedding, engagement, or event. I hope the photos that I provided to you will be something that you can look back and happily remember that point in your life. My prayers are with all of you that 2011 brings you everything that you hope for.

Now this is a good group of folks who know how to have a good time. Taking a Saturday and getting together before going to the early Yuletide. Then follow that up with continuing to enjoy the company and the Christmas Spirit. The group is much bigger than when it started about 20 years ago. Kids are grown and some even have their own little ones now. All in all, it is these types of gatherings that help give Christmas its meaning.

Baby Keaton is three months old now. Cami and Allen have one cute little boy. He was fighthing the smile but when he showed it, it was pretty awesome. I was excited when Cami mentioned the snowsuit and that we could take him outside. The snowfall was perfect. The flakes were big and the wind was minimal. Had an awesome time taking their pictures and can't wait to capture more photos of Keaton in the future.

It was great to see Kenny and Sarah and meet baby Jonah. I met up with them at their new place in Carmel and with Jonah being so young we stayed inside which is expected this time of the year in Indiana. Jonah got a bath and a few changes of clothes for the pictures and I can already see him as a hurryin hoosier and going living in Wrigleyvillle!

When Jaime and Josh asked if we could the engagement pictures in Bloomington my ears perked up. I love Bloomington and am reminded why every time I go. We met at the Sample Gates which is such a neat entrance to a beautiful campus. Being fellow Hoosiers, I hope they enjoyed walking around as much as I did and to get to take pictures of a great couple on top of that was pretty sweet.

Headed to Cincinnati on Saturday for a newborn portrait session for Henry Thomas Woods who is the newest addition to the family of Joey and Allison Woods. He joined the world on October 19, 2010. I am always amazed being around infants. They really are the definition of innocence. Photographing Henry over the next year and beyond is going to be awesome. With Joey and Allison as parents, his level of awesomeness is at a pretty high level.

Heather and Mike got married this past weekend in downtown Indianapolis at the State House which is a beautiful building. Although the elements outside didn't let us take very many pictures, the State House provided more than enough opportunities. It was great seeing these two tie the knot and you can tell that they have great family and friends who love and support them. Oh yea, and the father/daughter dance was awesome!

I had a lot of fun shooting the Rhoads family on Sunday. Ryan is the brother of my lovely fiance and is married to Amanda. They had Lyla in April of '09 and it has been awesome watching her grow even though it took her a while to warm up to me. I think her playing with my iPhone helped! We took the family portraits at Washington Park with great fall weather. Lyla seems to really like the camera, and of course, she loves the playground. With her blond curls, she's a cute little girl, and Steph and I look forward to seeing her all dressed up as our flower girl in just under 6 months.

Senior Portrait Session for Allie Light - Indianapolis, Indiana

I met up with Allie and her mom on Sunday morning on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis to shoot her senior portraits. It was a little chilly when we got there so after a few outdoor shots we went inside for a few to let it warm up a bit. Allie was awesome to work with and was a trooper when the wind picked up and had a little bite to it. It was a pleasure meeting both her and her mom and I look forward to possibly being with them at the Indy 500 next year!

We started on the downtown square which is right by Scholars Inn Bakehouse which is where their first date was! We then moved off to Nashville which with the great weather, was packed. Nashville being the quaint little town that it is provided some pretty unique engagement session photos. Last stop was Brown County State Park which this time of year is beautiful.

I've known Justin and Kelly for quite some time. If I remember correctly, my family even borrowed a 15 passenger van from Justin's parents for a family vacation or two. It had been a while since I've seen the family so it was definitely nice to catch up. We started the portrait session at a church that has a Cross in the back that made for some cool shots. We headed over to the park which always presents unique backgrounds. Fall weather was definitely in the air.

Shae and Billy are two awesome people who I have truly enjoyed getting to know. The wedding was beautiful and luckily the helicopters stayed away during the ceremony. The train came by shortly after and it was cool to watch the kids react and remember how exciting a train used to be. I know the happy couple is enjoying their time this week going up the East coast. On top of everything, I must say I was especially excited to photograph this wedding. The venue in downtown Indianapolis is the same one where I am getting married next year.

I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of my cousin Bruce and his new bride Emily. The church was beautiful, the people were great, and good times were had by all. St.Louis has some backdrops that make for some awesome pictures. Were were not the only ones that had the ideas of being downtown either. Some of the locations had wedding parties lined up. It was a great time and I thankful for having the opportunity for being the photographer for an important day in a family members life.

Ahhh the Woods. Two of my favorite people. Living in Cincinnati, they are not around as much as everyone would like but it is always a blast when they are. Their first baby is on the way and they are doing it the old fashioned way and waiting to find out if it is a boy or a girl. Either way, the baby will be welcomed into a great family. We were going to hit up a Reds game but they are actually playing well this year so it was sold out! Good times were had nevertheless.

Our little buddy Jackson is now 1! It's hard to believe. Becoming closer with James and Nicole has been great as well, and they are moving closer! I truly look forward to watching him grow. We got to the IMA around 10 and on paper the weather was going to be awesome. The humidity however was a little much. Still had a blast and thanks to my fiance who helped bring out some of those smiles on J's face.

I've known Rebecca and Nathan for a while now. I first met Nathan while working for a landscaping company while in high school. It was hilarious to reminisce about those days. We met up at Eagle Creek and headed to the marina. Rebecca's sister was in my high school class and lived just down the street from one of my best friends growing up. It was a lot of fun to hang out and take pictures of them and their little guy. Nicholas was curious as most boys his age are.

I'm not sure what to say here. I lost a dear friend over the weekend. James Douglas, a.k.a Jimmy D, will be sorely missed by so many. It renders the age old question as to why bad things happen to good people. We see other tragedies and ask ourselves why them and then when it does happen to us we ask ourselves the same question. Some questions are answered only in time and prayer.

40 Years of Marriage

I got a call and it was my cousin on the other end. We haven't spoke in a while which I wish wasn't the case. He and his wife Kelly were looking for some family shots of them and their adorable twins, Thomas and Elliot. It was my first time meeting the little guys and I must say they are pretty awesome. I met them at Holliday Park which is a nice park. Walking around the play area I noticed that the playgrounds of today are not what they were 15 years ago. I really enjoyed hanging out with the Rude's and hopefully it won't be so long next time in between visits.

I recently proposed to my girlfriend. She had an idea it was coming in the future but she certainly was not expecting it when she got home from work on Good Friday. Here are a couple pictures of how I had it set up before she got home. Inside the paper was words that describe her, such as smart, beautiful...The last piece of paper which was in the bedroom had the word "Engaged?" on the inside. She picked it up and I got down on one knee.

It appears that Spring is officially here. It is days like today that allow us to have an appreciation of the changing of the seasons. Without question, it is nice to have a vacation or a business trip somewhere south or to the west while it is winter here. He got to play in the snow and other than when we tried to get him to do a snow angel, he enjoyed it. losing the big one

Not sure what role karma played in the Super Bowl. You could say it was coming back to bite the Colts since they purposely lost two games at the end of the season thus ending the quest for perfection. On the other side of the coin karma is giving back a little to what was once, and in some parts still is, a ruined city. Either way, Colts fans need to keep their heads up knowing that Peyton Manning is still our quarterback and that every season he plays is another chance to get to back to the big game.

Joanna wondered why they were having brunch in Central Park and why I said I was going to go off and walk around the city by myself. Helen Bishop 90th Birthday

Helen Bishop, or GG, turned 90 and was surprised! Her family surprised her with a party to celebrate the big day. Told that there were some twins that had been born, she was expecting to meet the two newest great grand kids. Family flew in and people bared the cold temperatures to come together to enjoy the occasion.

Bruce & Emily

Bruce and Emily were troopers. They were willing to brave the Indiana winter weather during the shoot. Being from Missouri they are used to December temperatures but it didn't make it any easier. We took a short break for some hot chocolate which helped. Meeting Emily and seeing Bruce again was a great time and I look forward to shooting their wedding in '10.

The Avett Brothers

A great band that I came upon is The Avett Brothers. The band consists of two brothers and an additional bass player. They have four albums and from what I've heard, all of them are good especailly the latest one which was released late September of this year. They are coming to Indianapolis early next year and hope to make it to the show.

I took some shots of the Andy & Lori Duncan, the latter of which happens to be pregnant with twins. The weather was a little chilly so we just stayed around the house when taking the pictures. San Diego Trip

I was fortunate enough to go to always beautiful San Diego this week. The hotel I was staying at had a pool that is reserved for two rescued seals. They are both essentially blind which is why their eyeys look like they do. I have found that when you can stay at hotels that are not chains you can find little gems like I did this week.
